YSL Mon Paris Perfume Review

Happy May you guys! I am so excited for a new month & for some new goals! I’ve received some new stuff & I just have to share them with you all. So lately I’ve been on this fragrance high. I don’t know why, but I binge on things for a little & move on to something else. Like just a month ago I was on a skin care binge! Just anything skin care, I needed. But I noticed I have a lot of that now, & most of it isn’t really getting used either. So I had to slow down a bit. Now I’ve moved on to another binge lol! I don’t really buy perfumes. I was always that girl who went to Bath & Body Works or Victoria’s Secret & just purchased body mists. I always found any fragrance perfume to be super expensive. I just couldn’t see myself dropping $100+ on a bottle.

When I was younger, in my teens, I use to have a few perfumes but that was because my mom would buy them for me lol! No wait I am totally lying! I purchased my first perfume by Vera Wang at Sephora. At that time I never went to Sephora for makeup. I went there for body scrubs & body care products. I was probably 18 at the time. I remember because that was the first time I saw Nars & saw their “Orgasm” blush. & I was so shocked they had a makeup product called “Orgasm.” Lol! I use to get Seventeen magazine & always smelled the perfume inserts. Vera Wang’s Princess perfume was super popular back then. & I was so excited to buy it. So it was really one of my real perfume purchases. I think I spent probably $50 for it. I use to always just take my mom’s perfumes. She wore this Dolce & Gabbana perfume my brother gave her. & it smelled so good! It’s discontinued now, but she would want to kill me because I wore it all the time lol! I tried to find it for her but it’s literally like nowhere 🙁

As some of you know, I am an influencer with Octoly. & back in November, I requested to get YSL’s Black Opium perfume. I received a sample from Sephora while I was shopping for a birthday gift for my mom back in September. I didn’t think it was the same one because the packaging was different & it said it was the “wild edition.” But I was accepted to receive it. At first, I thought it was a sample or like a mini version of it. Because, months before that, I received this Burberry one & it was a freaking mini bottle. Yeah, I was pissed lol! Didn’t even smell good anyhow lol! I can tell you, they never came back to the Octoly store after that either lol!
The YSL Black Opium was my first fragrance in a long time! & I loved it so much! It’s literally done now. & recently, YSL was back on the Octoly free store. & I requested for two YSL items but they were out of stock. & then out of nowhere, they posted their Mon Paris perfume! I literally pitched to them my request & prayed I would get accepted lol! That same day, I was accepted! & I was sooooo excited. & the bottle is their largest bottle, at 3 ounces. Which costs $122!!! Girl, now you know I am using this veryyy sparingly! Black Opium is like $90 at 1 ounce I believe. So yep, this is going to be used very minimally. Mon Paris notes are Strawberry, Raspberry, Bergamot, Calone, Pear, Orange Flower, Jasmine Sambac, White Peony, Datura, Patchouli, White Musk, Ambrox, Cedarwood, & Crystal Moss. The style is Passionate, Sensual & Sophisticated. You can really get a hint of most of the notes. Depending on how you around. I get a lot of the fruity notes for sure. & the White Musk. I find it very sophisticated. It’s a great fragrance for everyday for sure.

I also recently received an Estee Lauder fragrance. I requested the wrong one but I think the packaging is soo cute! It’s not a huge bottle but the scent is super warm & spicy. Very mature & very sophisticated. I honestly think it’s one of those scents that you wear when you’re feeling super sexy lol! It’s really not for me, unfortunately 🙁 But I’ll keep it or give it to my mom. I also received a perfume by Kenzo. Beautiful packaging. The scent is a nice floral scent. But it’s kind of weird to me. It’s not too floral like. Like, say Marc Jacob’s Daisy perfume. But it is somewhat floral-like with a slight strong musk scent to it as well. It’s not very youthful but it’s also not too mature. It does also have some fruit notes to it. It has notes of Bergamot, Pear, Jasmine Sambac, Bulgarian Rose & White Musks. It’s lightweight to me. So I might wear it over the summer mostly. Every once in a while. But I hate how it smells after it settles on to my clothes.
So overall, I’m really having fun enjoying these fragrances! I also requested to receive like 5 perfumes in like one package. I saw the new Ariana Grande perfume as a selection & I was like “I NEED THAT!” I think the packaging is so cute! & I missed out on her first perfume. It was $30 at Target as a gift set I think for Christmas. & I passed by it not realizing what it was at the time. Plus I thought it would be a fake perfume lol. I went back to buy it but it was gone 🙁 The other 4 perfumes are ones I’ve seen before. One is by Coach, another by Victoria’s Secret. One other by Ralph Lauren & lastly, one by Bath & Body Works! I also wanted to request another Kenzo perfume that’s available. The packaging is super nice. It’s in the shape of the famous Kenzo eyeball design. I think the packaging is so chic. I wouldn’t mind trying that out. Maybe I will just to see what it smells like! I always wanted to be one of those girls that would have a vanity full of perfumes. My mom was just like that. She had a ton of makeup & so many perfumes. So I kinda wanna be like that, too lol!
What’s your favorite fragrance? Especially now that it’s Spring/Summer. I would literally wear Black Opium all year if I could lol! But it’s a really warm fragrance. It’s more so meant for the fall & winter months. I went to Macy’s the other day & tried out some fragrances by Chanel & Tory Burch. Chanel is definitely on my list next! Tory Burch is very lightweight. I actually liked that it stayed on my skin longer than the Chanel one. But they are both some must-haves that I need! Let’s chat below, if you wanna 😀

I love perfume, it's one of my favorites. I don't get to spend the money on it that I'd like though. I love the packaging on that YSL bottle! It's so pretty!

I'm not a perfume kind of gal but every now and then I'll get a whiff of one and will want to try it. Maybe I'll give these a try. I love cologne on men…now that's irresistible.

I love both perfumes and body mists. My mom really likes YSL perfumes! You are right, they are REALLY expensive, but they smell pretty good too. Not too strong, not too faint. Just right. My favorite perfume is probably Curve or Curve Crush, though.

This sounds absolutely lovely! I must try it next time I go shopping. I've never tried their perfumes but I do love their makeup. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on it 😊

The exact way you were, I am the same way. I think some perfumes are a little too strong but some smell really nice if I apply minimum. I'm more of a Sensual Amber kind of girl but I wasn't always that way. I use to cling more to the fruity products. It's amazing how we mature even down to the scents we choose to wear. So with that evolution I can't say I wouldn't one day become my mother with a collection of perfumes. If I do you sure did give me a nice list of options. Thanks a lot boo. Great post.

Before I had my baby I was OBSESSED with buying perfumes, most of which I'd only use a couple of times then move on to a new one. When I fell pregnant, I couldn't tabdbto be within 100 feet of any perfume smell and since giving birth I'm just scared to go back. I do want to try the YSL actually as I've heard good things from family members.
